Shopping in and around Herefordshire

Shopping in and around Herefordshire

When I am not working I really enjoy shopping in the market towns close to Monnington House and the Cider Mill which are Hereford, Hay on Wye and Presteigne.   Each city/town has its own unique stamp and still maintains a high number of independent shops, cafes and galleries.   Listed below are the places I love to visit.

No 50

No 50 is a shop and online business based in Broad Street, Presteigne. Virginia sells her own bespoke designs and a mix of vintage and new brands such as Toast, Max Mara, Mes Soeur et Moi, Ewa I Walla etc. She is open by appointment as well as Wed, Fri and Sat from 10.30 am to 1.00 pm. Best to message first but worth a visit if you enjoy your clothes.

Baileys Home

If you enjoy home comforts visit Baileys near Ross on Wye (HR9 6JU) where you can find furniture, lighting, homeware, textiles, garden ornaments and plants. Many pieces at Monnington House were sourced from this wonderful shop.

Tinsmiths

This is a wonderful shop to visit in Ledbury.   It sells fabrics, homewares, textiles and more.   All of the curtains at Monnington House were made by Tinsmiths and many of the throws, soft furnishings, etc were found there.   The Cider Mill has cushions and some decorative pieces from here too.

Courtyard Antiques

This is a gem of a shop which I really enjoy visiting in the charming town of Presteigne on the Welsh borders.   Many decorative items for Monnington House and the Cider Mill have been found here.

Booths Bookshop and Cinema

Tucked away at the back of this charming bookshop in Hay-on-Wye is a cinema. It shows current movies and also shows live productions from the National Theatre.  There is also a small cafe that serve great lunches. The cinema only accommodates up to 50 people so please book in advance.
