I organised a family reunion at Monnington for my husband’s 60th birthday. It was the most fantastic venue, with beautifully appointed accommodation, set in large, child-friendly grounds. The house had ample cookware, crockery, glasses & cutlery & the double ovens, dishwashers & washing machines meant that catering for a large party was easy to do. Online delivery of groceries/wine was simple to arrange & the local country store was convenient for other treats during the week. It’s walking distance to the local pub, the Portway, when you’ve had enough of cooking & the other walks in the area are beautiful, especially when the apple blossom is out. A perfect week.
We have had a truly magical time.
We spent a lot of time at the house, just enjoying ourselves. Some people did painting in the garden, some played football and we had our table tennis tournament. We really liked the new layout of the terraces and had evening drinks on the low chairs and lunch and breakfast at the table. We also went again to garden cafe at Bredwardine, it’s a nice leisurely walk. Some people went to an Abbey. On Monday when the weather was a bit uncertain some went to Hereford and to the Cathedral and Mappa Mundi etc. others went to Hay and enjoyed the shops!
We met some friends at the Westonbury Mill Water Gardens and liked it so much that the others went the next day. They also loved it. Very good cafe there too. Some of us went kayaking and others went on the walk from Kington up Hergest Ridge which was really beautiful. I have to say we went to the farm shop at least once a day and sometimes twice!
